Named Ashley Ellen by my parents in ’87 and raised in rural Prince Edward Island – the home of Anne of Green Gables. I had a strong attraction to art from a young age. Art runs through our blood you see. My mother, aunts, grandmother, and cousin are all artists – we can’t contain the creativity. It flows out our finger-tips and spills onto every surface.
My mother always told me I should be a Graphic Designer, and like all typical children, I ignored her. For a while, I dabbled with the idea of being a mechanic, a lawyer, and taking over my mother’s business as a hairstylist. Fast forward 15 years later and I’m half a decade into a career I adore. Why didn’t I start this sooner? I could have been happy in my job for 11 years by now! Thankfully my path in life brought me back to my mother’s suggestion, and I ended up attending Interactive Multimedia at Holland College in 2010. During my studies, I took a real shining to WordPress Development and Graphic Design, and I continued learning online.
The years to follow, I have worked for a variety of clients including businesses such a retail outlets, distilleries, insurance companies, design studios, breweries, hotels, music festivals, gift shops, a destination marketing DMO, restaurants, touring companies, computer engineers, farmers, and fishers to name a few!
It’s been a great ride, and I wouldn’t change it for anything in this world.
